What is Attendance Allowance?

A benefit if you require help with personal care. Attendance Allowance is not dependant on your National Insurance contributions.

It is not means tested and is free of tax. To qualify you need to be over 65 and require help in performing a number of Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s); for Instance bathing, dressing, washing, eating, etc. Attendance Allowance is paid at two levels and the rate you would claim would be dependant on whether the help you need is for 12 or 24 hours each day.
