Protecting your home and all its contents at a reasonable price requires some careful attention according to new warnings.

Insurers say that it is important customers check the quotes given to them and see whether they include all the details and potential hidden costs involved.

The warnings follow research undertaken by Hiscox Insurance, which says that as many as half of the items paid out on by so-called "higher end" insurance companies would not have been met by "budget" firms.

Hiscox says that customers are often fooled by seemingly cheap contents cover, which then turn out to be more expensive than their counterparts.
